Having suffered significant losses and humiliated on international scene, freshly appointed Russian president Wladimir Putin took things into his skilled KGB-trained hands and within several years solved the Chechen problem exterminating all major Chechen leaders, thousands of (16-60 years old) men sending Chechnya back into the middle ages.
