President Trump is promising to hold a 'wild' protest in Washington D.C. in the first week of the new year as he continues to deny that he lost the election.

The rally is scheduled for January 6th - the same day Congress is scheduled to meet to accept the presidential election results.

'Statistically impossible to have lost the 2020 Election,' Trump tweeted on Saturday. 'Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!'

The tweet also linked to a report by Peter Navarro that claims without evidence that the amount of election fraud was sufficient to swing the election.

Despite presidential electors casting their votes last week in the Electoral College, the Trump campaign has continued to insist that the results are illegitimate and have disputed them by launching several legal challenges with virtually all of them failing.

Almost 50 lawsuits have been launched by the Trump campaign in the last six weeks in an attempt to overturn the results of the election.

Each time, the suits have been thrown out by state and federal judges.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court rejected a key lawsuit from Texas that attempted to nullify millions of votes cast in key swing states that voted for Biden.

The president's legal team has stated that it will continue to launch challenges to the election results however experts say that it is very likely that none will succeed, according to Fox News.

Trump has been critical of those in his party who have accepted Biden's victory. with some of his allies planning to call for a debate in the House when the election results are received next month before a joint session of Congress.

On Tuesday, Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell recognized Biden as president-elect in a speech on the floor of the Senate.

He later reportedly asked colleagues not to object when the Electoral College votes are presented in the chamber.

The request may put to bed any hopes of a last-minute reprieve for the president. McConnell's actions angered Trump who called on him and other Republicans to 'get tougher.' The request puts to be any hopes of a last-minute reprieve for the president.
'@senatemajldr and Republican Senators have to get tougher, or you won't have a Republican Party anymore. We won the Presidential Election, by a lot. FIGHT FOR IT. Don't let them take it away!' Trump stated on Twitter.

President Trump lost the election by more than 7 million votes, with Joe Biden winning 306 electoral college votes to Donald Trump's 232.
