In John 4:23-24, the Lord Jesus Christ says, with regards to true worship: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Psalm 115:4-8 speak of the types of idols and graven images, which God speaks against in Exodus 20:4-6. The holy second commandment of God says:

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that LOVE ME and KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.

You are not loving God when you break His holy 2nd commandment.
