The Biden administration’s ‘Build Back Better’ bill has met a huge obstacle after Senator Joe Manchin confirmed “it’s a no” from him to vote in favour of passing the $1.9 trillion spending package.

Last month the US House of Representatives passed the president’s reconciliation package.

Time was ticking for the Biden administration which was eager to pass the legislation before the end of the year.

Democrats needed all 50 senators to vote in favour of the social spending package but Joe Manchin has confirmed he can’t support the controversial bill.

‘You’re done? This is a no?” Fox News’ Brett Baier asked.

“This is a no on this legislation,” Mr Manchin said.

“I have tried everything I know to do and the president has worked diligently. He’s been wonderful to work with.”

The West Virginia senator had publicly been concerned the expensive bill would add extra debt and cause stress on America’s record high inflation crisis.

“If I can’t go home and explain it to the people of West Virginia – I can’t vote for it,” Senator Manchin said.

“I cannot vote to continue with this legislation, I just cant.”
