Russia’s Ministry of Defense has released footage of Ukrainian troops surrendering, after having been holed up in the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol.
A ceasefire was agreed around the plant which came into effect on Monday, allowing injured servicemen to be evacuated to a hospital in Donbass. Ukraine has confirmed that the beleaguered soldiers were ordered to surrender.
Over the past day, says the MoD, 265 militants, 51 of them seriously wounded, have laid down their weapons.
