My beloved weekly walk on the John George Walk Trail often has me deviate towards Blackadder Swamp, with the open expanse between the Swan-Avon River and the swamp a favourite of mine. When recently mown, the insidious takeover by cells of kikuyu grass is evident. While it makes a great drought resistant lawn, it smothers so many more genteel members of the botanical family in the wild.
