The wonderful Blackadder Swamp, in which the old town/suburb of Midland, Western Australia, almost has its feet in, has begun a good flow of water out into Blackadder Creek, which empties a short distance away into the Swan-Avon River, after good rain two nights ago. This swamp is a significant home, feeding, and breeding ground for thousands of water birds, and by mid to late autumn each year it is either dry or its scarce stagnant water is in need of flushing away.
