Bamboo roots are prolific, with thousands of thin strands clinging to the soil under and around the clump. I don’t know what the running types do with their roots, but every clumping type I’ve grown have dense mats of roots, excellent for creek, stream, and river bank stabilisation. This specimen is Bambusa balcooa.
