Father John celebrates Saint Patrick as one of the greatest saints in the history of the church. Saint Patrick spread Christianity throughout Ireland in the fifth century. He was a missionary and a mystic and in his spiritual biography called The Confession, Saint Patrick tells the story of his teenage years. Kidnapped from his home in the British Isles by pirates, he was taken to Ireland as a slave. He tells of his escape and return to Ireland years later, called by God to convert his kidnappers and the people of Ireland to Christianity. Saint Patrick also speaks on the mystical process of awakening he went through during those years of slavery and afterward.
