Greed and disobedience lead to defeat as Achan steals some of the treasure "devoted to destruction." As a consequence of this sin, Israel suffers its first defeat. The Lord leads them to repentance and victory and, in the process, teaches us about dealing with adversity. When things hurt, God is working!
