Brett was making a marijuana deal with McDade and Williams. During the deal, one of the pair pulled out a gun and told Brett to give him all of the marijuana. A fight ensued, and Brett was shot in the chest. The suspects fled, with McDade dropping a black iPhone. That phone was recovered by investigators, who traced it back to McDade.
