Professor Henrik Mouritsen from the University of Oldenburg, whose research interests include animal navigation, magnetic sense, and orientation, explains why some birds choose to migrate under the cover of night in this video.
According to Prof. Henrik, some birds choose to migrate nocturnally in order to avoid overheating and predators. But this is NOT the only cool thing about nocturnal migration!
Apparently, Prof. Henrik reveals, that birds actually have this amazing ability where they can use half their brain to fly and the other half to sleep SIMULTANEOUSLY! ðŸ§
