Casuarina obesa (I'm not certain - where's a full botanist when you need one!) trees have formed two groves side by side on the bank of Perth's Swan-Avon River, at the suburb of Viveash. A deep carpet of pine-like needles mulch the ground, giving a soft carpet-effect. A sanctuary on a hot day, some peace, even solace, at least a cause for gratitude, beside the well-frequented John George Walk Trail.
