With a hot day forecast, and being in the middle of the 7-week long school holidays, a smaller turnout of several hundreds at Elizabeth Quay was expected, although hope sprung eternal that, given the unspeakable push for 5- to 11-year-olds to be vaccinated from Monday 10th, two days’ time, a large group of us would turn up. Nevertheless, the energy was high, and the speakers excellent. We did the central business district on our march, stopping at Government House for a moving and respectful short vigil, playing The Last Post, and observing a minute’s silence, hoping for the Governor Kim Beazley to come out and meet us.
