I have known this tree from its former glory days, when it overspread this carpark at Reg Bond Reserve in Viveash, at one end of the John George Walk Trail, along the Swan-Avon River. A few years back a storm tore a massive branch onto the carpark, prompting the City of Swan to cut the majestic old gum tree down completely, for safety reasons. I marvel at the determination of many trees, despite their great age and size, to stay in the game and regrow, as this Eucalyptus rudis is doing. Caveat: I may have the species name incorrect.
