Many do not know the story of the Olive tree. Paul uses this tree as a metaphor in Romans 11:17-24 to illustrate how God, pictured as the root, Israel and Judah the branches, and the Gentiles, represented as wild olive shoots, grafted in among the branches. Salvation has now come to the Gentiles. God loves both Jew and Gentile and neither can be replaced, one for the other.
