HopeMedia Italia Brings Young Adventists and Catholics Together with a Catholic Priest in Order to Fulfill Jesus’ Prayer for Unity. HopeMedia Italia is the official communication agency of the Italian Union of Seventh-day Adventist Churches. On January 30, 2025, Sara Civerchia, a member of the HopeMedia Italia editorial team, published the news of the meeting between young Roman Catholics and Seventh-day Adventists. She revealed that Adventists had been seeking this ecumenical encounter for some time and were grateful to Catholics for agreeing to meet. This event was then widely disseminated through our official church publication to all Adventists about how fruitful this meeting was and how it should serve as an example of Christian unity in fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer. Southern Adventist University Demolishes Statues of Elijah and Elisha. In late 2004, an 83-ton block of granite was shipped to Southern Adventist University. This was the largest stone ever shipped out of Vermont, according to the Rock of Ages quarry. It arrived in Collegedale by train, where a crane placed the stone on a special tractor-trailer made to accommodate heavy loads. The stone was then transported to Southern Adventist University. The block was Barre granite, the hardest rock known to man. Using a special technique, it was chiseled to portray the Biblical account of Elijah passing the mantle to Elisha, symbolizing passing knowledge from the old generation to the young. The work was completed by one of the greatest sculptors within the Adventist Church, Wayne Hazen, and his students. The statue on the right is 20’ tall, revealing it’s massive size.
