Concerning women in positions of authority and power.

First of all, 1Kings chapter 10 verses 10 and 13, “Never again came such an abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.” Then similarly, Esther chapter 5 verse 3, “What is it Queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given to you, even to the half of my kingdom.”

Now, some verse dealing with the strength differences between women and men. Jeremiah chapter 51 verse 30, “their strength has failed they have become women.” Isaiah chapter 19 verse 16, “the Egyptians will be like women, and tremble with fear.” 1Peter chapter 3 verse 7, “you husbands, live considerately with your wives, bestowing honor on the woman as the weaker sex, since you are joint heirs of the grace of life.”

Next some verse dealing with marriage and relationships. 1Corinthians chapter 11 verse 11, “in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman.” 1Corinthians chapter 11 verse 3, “the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.” 1Corinthians chapter 7 verse 4, “For the wife does not rule over her own body, but the husband does; likewise the husband does not rule over his own body, but the wife does.”

Finally, verses dealing with authority and teaching. 1Timothy chapter 2 verses 11 through 14, “Let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to keep silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.” I believe these verses are primarily referring to activities within places of worship. I base this on the testimony concerning the Queen of Sheba and Queen Esther. A queen logically has to be able to have authority over the men she rules, and silence would make that difficult. Additionally, Matthew chapter 5 verse 28 also leads me to believe these verses deal primarily with places of worship, as it states, “I say to you that every one that looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” It seems only logical that Jesus Christ would not want adulterous thoughts generated in his houses of worship.

Finally, the way I see it, for all people, in some way, the world is a prison and the bars of the prison are the sins of mankind. Even heads of nations can’t live outside of their own security. Have a great day.
