The total rainfall in 24 hours reached 62 centimeters in the city of Maibara in the western prefecture of Shiga and 60 centimeters in the city of Sapporo in the northern prefecture of Hokkaido.
In Sapporo (the capital of the island of Hokkaido) 60 cm of snow fell in just a day. Snow thickness exceeded 1 m.
